From the Artist:
Perhaps of all things that revolve around the idea of a garden, observation is the most important- Driving the length of Idaho this month, made me redirect my attention away from the tasks at hand in a garden that is planned vs, a garden that could not be more perfect in the spring in its natural surroundings. The balsamroot fields the blues and lavenders of the distant mountains and the clouds and blue skies shifting endlessly for miles. All of this somehow arrives in a place in my heart and mind that fuels my attempts to paint.
While having oneself immersed as well in the dirt and all the plants in my own studio and home, there is a never ending sense of gratefulness for the spaces that become transformed with plants. Forty five year old apple trees that I planted for my oldest son, and two pears also planted for my other two boys finally received a proper pruning from a state arborist and specialist in orchards.. I was so happy to take care of them… Everyday there is an opportunity to explore in a garden, here or out there as it may.
